There are always ways to serve with First Serve! Scroll down for ongoing, year-long needs, as well as one-time opportunities to volunteer at events or help at a program.

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

First Serve has established partnerships with several organizations in North Hill at which volunteer help is needed on a year-round basis. These are opportunities to engage more deeply in the community, develop relationships with our partners and residents, and be a part of the amazing diversity North Hill has to offer.

THE BIKE SHOP AT 915 NORTH MAIN

The Bike Shop, located in the parking lot at 915 North Main, is really taking off! This ministry, in partnership with South Street Ministries, 915 North Main Community Connection Center and First Serve, serves kids and adults every Thursday, teaching them how to refurbish used bicycles that they can then own in order to get to work, school, or enjoy for recreation. The Clothing Room at 915 North Main

The Clothing Room is located at 915 North Main Community Connection Center (915 N. Main St., Akron) and receives donations from First Serve Partners. These donations are sorted and distributed to new Americans being relocated in Akron as they immigrate from their home countries.

Sleeping Mat Ministry

Help make sleeping mats benefiting Akron Snow Angels, an organization that offers warmth, dignity and hope to unhoused individuals. We’re looking for volunteers to help us prep and weave plastic grocery bags into sleeping mats. Hands-on instruction is provided!

Volunteers meet at First Congregational Church of Hudson most Thursdays from 12:30 – 3 pm and some Saturdays.
