First Serve’s Annual Day of Service will be on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Over 600 volunteers will gather to work on projects located at partner organizations and residential sites in the North Hill community of Akron. Projects are designed to support the work these organizations are doing in the community while at the same time providing opportunities for volunteers to be immersed in the neighborhood.

Who can participate?
Anyone can participate! Projects are designed for families and people of all ages and abilities.
How can I register?
Online registration opens on August 1st, 2026 on Eventbrite.
What happens if it rains?
This is a rain or shine event!
How do I find out more specific information?
Once you register, your contact information will be sent to your project leader. Your leader will contact you with the details closer to the actual date.
How will I get to my project site?
You will receive information from your project leader closer to the date. However, everyone is encouraged to gather at the Sending Service for the day’s kick- off event. Following the service you will head to the project sites in North Hill.
Do I need to bring supplies to the project site?
In most cases, supplies will be provided. For some projects, you may be asked to bring project- specific supplies. If that is needed, your crew leader will let you know before the actual date.
What should I wear?
First Serve T-shirts are provided for all registered volunteers. Please be sure to denote sizing on your registration form. T-shirts will be available at the Sending Service. Please be practical; dress in layers, wear sunscreen, and be prepared for a variety of conditions.
Will there be food?
Yes! Coffee and donuts will be available before the Sending Service. Then, First Serve will host a picnic lunch at 915 N. Main in North Hill. You are encouraged, however, to bring your own water and snacks for extra energy.
